Summer 2010

Sizer Family Events

There will be two events this summer to celebrate what our Dad and your Uncle Ted loved to do. More than anything Dad loved hanging out with family on the water and in the mountains. Dad relished the noise, food, sweat, dogs, and multiple generations of family. Come if you can to have some laughs, but don’t feel that you have to be there. He would want you to have fun wherever you are.

Saturday, June 19th         Mount Monadnock, SouthWest NH       Family and Friends

We will meet at the top of Monadnock Mountain at 1:00 pm for lunch and pictures. A group will be leaving the parking lot by the Marlboro Trail at 10:30 am and an earlier group will be leaving the parking lot by the Pumpelly Trail at 10:00 am. Bring lunch and lots of water. Not a hiker? We will meet at a restaurant at 4:30 for an early dinner somewhere in Rindge NH. If you are interested, please contact Hal Sizer at 860-658-4311 or HSizer@Comcast.net.

The trail head for the Pumpelly trail is at coordinates 42.90118 N, 72.07503 W, just off of Rt 101 in Jaffery, NH.  It is NOT at the main Mt. Monadnock parking lot where we assembled for the hike in 2009.

Information about the trail is here.

August 13 - 15th Canoe Trip   Hanover, NH area     Just Family including Shear/Rogers

All generations are invited to an overnight canoe trip in Northern VT/NH. We will start around St Johnsbury, VT and end just north of Hanover, NH. Will Allen will launch the 20 – 31 year olds at 10:00 am on Friday and they will forge ahead and set up the desired camp. The rest of us will stay at a hotel on Friday night and launch the next morning at 10:00 am and another group will launch at 2:00 pm. We will spend the night by the side of the river with varied campfire discussions and be back in our cars by 11:00 am Sunday. The food may be slight burned, there may be a black fly or two, and you may be asked to paddle (unless you are in David Allen’s canoe) but it will be a blast. Bring your sister, bring your dog, and bring your laughter. If you need canoes, tents, or sleeping bags we can rent from the Dartmouth Outing club or find you one from other family members. Contact Hal Sizer at 860-658-4311 or Hsizer@Comcast.net if you are interested in joining us.
